The Duomo di Milano (Milan Cathedral) is one of the biggest and oldest Gothic cathedrals in the world. It was built from 1386 to 1965 on a former site of the basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. The cathedral is a symbol of Milan and its culture, featuring elaborate architectural details and one of the largest domes in the world. The main entrance to the cathedral is located on the grand Piazza del Duomo, filled with tourists and cafes. The interior contains masterpieces of Italian art and sculptures, as well as a number of chapels and beautiful stained glass windows. Visitors can admire the works of Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, and Veronese. The Duomo is open to the public and can be visited during the week and the weekend. Guided tours are also available, which provide further insight into the history and architecture of this incredible building.
