Duomo Cattedrale di Santa Maria Matricolare, commonly known as Verona Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Verona, northern Italy. It is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and is the seat of the Bishop of Verona. Built in Romanesque style, the cathedral construction began in 12th-century and was finished in 1522. Its structure offers a mix of Renaissance, Gothic and Romanesque elements. The main façade presents an impressive set of arches on the portico, topped with a 19th-century sculpture of the Madonna and Child. Inside, there are a number of works that stands out, including the Renaissance clock by Veronese master Galeazzo Mondella, and the Chapel of the Sacrament, among others. A visit to the Duomo Cattedrale di Santa Maria Matricolare is not to be missed if you're exploring historical Verona.
