Dublin Castle is an important landmark in the city of Dublin, Ireland and the area of County Dublin. This imposing castle is the symbolic heart of the Irish capital. Its origins date back to 1204 when King John of England built a strong fortress at this site. In later centuries, the Castle became the seat of British rule in Ireland. Today, Dublin Castle is widely used as a venue for major state events. Its State Apartments are open to the public, which include the sumptuous Drawing Room, the State Dining Room, and the Undercroft (chamber) of St. Stephen's Green. The imposing 13th century tower, the Record Tower and the Norman Tower are the highlights of the complex. The views from this historical spot are unbeatable. Visit the castle and get a glimpse into the past and a taste of a grandeur long gone. Don't forget to explore the nearby Georgian squares and enjoy some traditional music played by street performers.
