Shahid Abbaspour Dam Lake is the reservoir of the Shahid Abbaspour, also known as Karun-1, Dam on the Karun River in Khuzestan, southwestern Iran. Around Kushk, its branching waters occupy mountain valleys in the Zagros foothills, with steep, rocky slopes descending to the shoreline. Created for a major hydroelectric scheme, the lake is an engineered landscape shaped by the contours of the former river valley. Its visual character comes from blue-green water set against pale, rugged hills: narrow inlets, projecting headlands and overlapping ridgelines reveal the scale and folded terrain of this mountainous part of Khuzestan.
