📍 Sweden
Drottningholm Palace Park surrounds Sweden’s royal residence on Lovön, an island in Lake Mälaren west of Stockholm. Its gardens reflect changing royal tastes: the Baroque garden uses clipped hedges, straight avenues and patterned beds, while the later English landscape park has winding paths and a more open character. The 18th-century Chinese Pavilion adds another expression of courtly design. The long garden axis frames the palace façade in a symmetrical view, while mature trees and water give the wider grounds a softer backdrop.
