📍 China
Dong Hai Sui Dao, or “East Sea Tunnel,” is a road tunnel in Taizhou, Zhejiang province, on China’s eastern coast. Its name echoes the city’s setting beside the East China Sea, while its function belongs to the everyday transport landscape of a region where hills interrupt the coastal plain. The tunnel portal gives the scene its visual focus: the contrast between the open roadway and the enclosed passage emphasizes depth, scale, and the transition from daylight into shadow.
