The Gate of the Orient rises beside the western shore of Jinji Lake in Suzhou Industrial Park, anchoring a modern skyline far removed from the city’s classical gardens and canal-side streets. Approximately 302 metres tall, the building consists of two curved towers joined near the top, creating a monumental arch with an open centre. Its gateway form translates a familiar architectural symbol into the scale and materials of a contemporary skyscraper. Vertical bands of glass emphasize the towers’ height, while their inward-curving profiles make the silhouette recognizable across the lake. Views from the waterfront place the arch among surrounding high-rises, with the broad expanse of Jinji Lake providing a foreground.
