📍 Ukraine
The Dominican Cathedral, officially the Church of the Holy Eucharist, stands on Muzeina Square in Lviv’s historic center beside the former Dominican monastery. Built in the mid-18th century to replace an earlier Gothic church, it is one of the city’s defining Baroque landmarks, with an oval plan, monumental columned façade and a vast green-patinated dome that rises prominently above the Old Town roofs. The Latin inscription above the entrance, “Soli Deo honor et gloria,” means “To God alone be honor and glory.” Its curved architecture creates dramatic symmetry inside, while outside the dome is especially recognizable in elevated views of Lviv’s skyline. The church is an active place of worship, so visitors should remain quiet and avoid disrupting services.
