The Dolmabahçe Mosque, located in Beyoğlu, Istanbul, Turkey, is one of the largest mosques in the city. Built in 1853, its elegant facade stands in stark contrast to the more modern buildings of Istanbul. The Ottoman Baroque style creates an incredible sense of grandeur as soon as you enter the mosque. The interior is filled with intricate decorations, gilded chandeliers, and beautiful calligraphy. The entrance is adorned with rose marble and the mihrab and minbar (pulpits) are made with ivory. Dolmabahçe Mosque is truly a sight to behold and an example of why Istanbul remains a city full of wonder and inspiration.

The mosque can be reached by bus, tram, or metro. It is laid out in a large open-air courtyard, surrounded by several gorgeous minarets. Once inside, visitors can explore the mosque’s inner sanctum, the mausoleum, and the gardens. Nearby is the Hagia Sophia, the former Eastern Orthodox Church turned largest mosque when the Ottoman empire captured the city in 1453. Visitors will also find plenty of restaurants and shops in the area. Dolmabahçe Mosque is undoubtedly one of the main landmarks of Istanbul, a symbol of the city’s long and rich history. It is an ideal place for visitors to explore, soak in the atmosphere, and learn about Islamic culture.
