Dodong is a fortress located in Ulleung-gun, South Korea. It was constructed in 1356 during the Goryeo Dynasty, and is considered to be the oldest castle in the region. Dodong is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its castle walls and fortifications have been designated as a National Historical Site. Visitors can explore the outer castle walls, the inner city that features barracks, towers, and gatehouses, and the ruins of a dwelling quarters located in the inner cemetery. The views from the fortress are breathtaking and offer a glimpse into South Korea’s ancient history. There are also plenty of hiking trails nearby for visitors to explore.
