The Diving Board is a flat sandstone ledge on Table Mountain’s western slopes, close to the Kasteelspoort hiking route above Camps Bay. Its name comes from the way the rock projects outward like a springboard, creating the familiar illusion of a figure suspended high above the Atlantic seaboard. The viewpoint frames Camps Bay, the ocean and sections of the Twelve Apostles, while the mountain’s layered sandstone gives foreground texture and scale. It is reached on foot rather than by road, and the ledge is exposed, unguarded and often windy; low cloud can also obscure the coastline quickly.
