Dana is a historic stone village near Al-Qadisiyah in Jordan’s Tafilah Governorate, perched above Wadi Dana at the entrance to the Dana Biosphere Reserve. Its tightly clustered, earth-toned houses and narrow lanes follow the contours of a rugged escarpment, while the valley drops westward through striking layers of limestone and sandstone toward Wadi Araba. The contrast between the weathered masonry, terraced slopes and immense canyon gives Dana its distinctive visual character. From the village edge, wide views emphasize the scale of the valley, with low-angle light bringing out the textures and warm colors of the surrounding rock.
