📍 From The University of Alabama Quad, United States
Denny Chimes is a 115-foot brick campanile rising from the Quad at the heart of the University of Alabama campus in Tuscaloosa. Dedicated in 1929 and named for longtime university president George H. Denny, the clock tower is one of the campus’s defining landmarks, with pale stone details and open arches contrasting against its red brick. Concrete slabs around its base form the Walk of Fame, where Alabama football captains have left handprints and footprints since 1948. From across the Quad, the tower creates a strong vertical focal point above lawns, mature trees, and surrounding academic buildings; closer views emphasize the clock faces, masonry patterns, and the imprints tied to the university’s football culture.
