De Zaanse Schans is a historical village in Zaandam, Netherlands. The village is a popular tourist attraction, as it has a collection of well-preserved historic windmills and traditional houses from the 18th and 19th centuries. Visitors can take a tour of the museum mills, learn the story of Dutch clog-making, and tour typical Dutch wooden homes. There are plenty of walking paths and bicycle trails along the Zaan River, and interesting historical sites such as the Town Hall, the Broederschool, and a former bakery. The Jewish Historical Museum is also located in the village. The handicraft shops and traditional Dutch restaurants provide an atmosphere of Dutch culture to complete the experience.
