Located in the bustling port city of Dunkerque, the De Reuzen Van Duinkerke (also known as Giants of Dunkerque) are a set of five spectacular Giant-sized marionettes that were seen for the first time on the streets of Dunkerque during the 1977 'La Groce Parade' festival. These impressive large-scale puppets were created by famous French artist Jacques Dutronc and his puppet making team. Each of them measure 9 meters in height and weigh nearly 200 kg. The five marionettes feature unique styles that are closely related to northern French folklore. Every two years, the giant marionettes are exhibited in the city of Dunkerque where people gather from far and wide to admire these larger than life characters, created with the aim to celebrate the cultural heritage of the region.
