De Inktpot is a distinctive, three-story building in Utrecht, Netherlands. The building is a Dutch rijksmonument, and dates back to 1905. Its unique shape and bright red brick is recognizable at the entrance of the old city center of Utrecht, standing out amongst other more traditional architecture. The facade is decorated with ceramic tiles and the art deco building was designed by architect F.J.W.L. Döcker. De Inktpot was considered to be the first Dutch office building constructed with a steel frame - an innovative construction method for its time and something that set the tone for modern architecture. Inside the building, there are two elevators, a carefully decorated staircase and an impressive archive space. The building is a popular spot for many, from students and businessmen all the way to walkers and photographers.
