Dargavs, also known as "Gorod Mertvykh" or "City of the Dead", is a picturesque place in the Caucasus mountains of North Ossetia in Russia. It is famous for its rock-cut's cemetery of 18th & 19th Century that is surrounded by walls. It is one of the most well preserved and oldest North Ossetian burial places. Inside the fortified city, the entrance to each burial chamber is marked with a cross. The small, dark chambers contain burials of ancient local families. It is a breathtaking sight to behold and a place of real mystery. You can get to Dargavs by taking a 50 km drive along a dirt road from Vladikavkaz, the capital of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. It's worth the journey to get a glimpse of this unique site and experience the historical and spiritual energy it radiates.
