Cueva del Pindal is a spectacular 4500-year-old sea cave located in Curuñes, Asturias, in the north-west of the Iberian Peninsula. Not to be confused with the much smaller and less impressive Cueva Pintada, located nearby. The spectacular entrance of the Cueva del Pindal is carved into a sheer rock face overlooking the rocky Catalan coast. Inside the cave is an expansive area of stalactites, stalagmites and waterways, as well as incredible ancient rock art and remains of prehistoric civilization. The eruption of basaltic lava from the nearby Monte Redondo, 560,000 years ago created this spectacular setting. If you plan to visit, allow plenty of time to explore the cave and its many natural formations. Make sure to have your camera with you as this is sure to be a memorable experience.
