Jökulsárlón, Iceland is a magical glacial lagoon located near the south shore of Iceland on the edge of the Vatnajökull glacier. It is considered one of the most beautiful sights in Iceland, where huge icebergs slowly make their way from the glacier to the sea. The lagoon is surrounded by lush green hills and is fed by glacier water from the glacier tongue Breiðamerkurjökull. Wildlife such as seals, seagulls and ducks can be seen here as well. Visitors to the lagoon can also enjoy stellar views of some of Iceland's most iconic mountains such as Kirkjufell, Snæfellsjökull and Esjan. For photographers and sightseers alike, the placid waters of the lagoon offer plenty of opportunities to capture gorgeous landscapes and wildlife. Visitors can take a boat tour to get up close to the icebergs floating on the lagoon. There are also plenty of paths available for hikers and photographers to explore the area. Jökulsárlón is accessible all year round and is truly breathtaking - an unmissable stop on any tour of Iceland.
