Cross of Giewont is a very popular landmark in the city of Zakopane in Poland. It is located on one of the peaks of the magnificent Tatra Mountains, near Giewont peak, and can be reached by a short 20-minute hiking trip from the centre of the city. The cross stands at a towering 18 metre(60 feet)high and is beautiful to behold from any angle. It rises majestically on top of the mountain along with a more modern sculpture of John Paul II blessing the Polish people. The cross was originally built in the late 1800s and has been rebuilt several times since due to the severe winter storms and wind erosion. It is a great spot for travelers in search of a stunning mountain landscape. The views of the summit and the valley below are breathtaking, perfect for those who love nature!
