Cristo Rey is a Cristian cross located on Cerro de la Cruz in the city of Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico. It was erected in 1976 by a group of volunteers who made it a labor of love. The structure stands at almost 600 feet tall and is visible from far away. It is placed on a hill which offers visitors a panoramic view of the city of Silao. The base of the cross has lookout points that provide stunning views of the city day and night. It is a common site for travelers and locals to admire and to meditate and pray. During major religious holidays such as Easter and Christmas, people come to the site with their families to celebrate and view the city from the incredible heights.
