Crater Lake is a crystal-blue lake located in Oregon, United States. It is surrounded by steep cliffs, and is over 1,900 feet (580 meters) deep--making it the deepest lake in the US. It is located in the caldera of an ancient volcano, and has no inlets of water. The lake gets its water solely from precipitation such as rain and snow. On a clear day, the visibility in the lake is up to 135 meters, making it a spectacular sight. Visitors can take boat tours to Wizard Island or a cruise around the lake. In addition, the panorama at the top of the crater rim is breathtaking and must be seen. The surrounding area also offers plenty of great hiking, biking and wildlife viewing.
