Crater Lake

Crater Lake, located in Oregon, United States, is a stunning feat of nature. It was formed when Mount Mazama, an ancient volcano, erupted, and then collapsed and filled the surrounding caldera with rain and snow. With an exceptionally deep and gentle blue hue, the lake is the second deepest lake in the United States. Surrounding it are high-elevation forests, meadows and a plethora of wildlife, including some of the rarest birds and plants in North America. At the lake’s center is Wizard Island, a cinder cone volcano, with Phantom Ship and other rocky islets close by. Every season of the year brings special and unique views of the lake, so visitors can find something to enjoy year-round.
