Cradle Mountain is a dramatic natural landscape located in central Tasmania. Surrounded by wilderness and ancient forests, it is a popular destination for hikers, adventurers and nature lovers. The site has abundant wildlife, including Tasmanian devils, bettongs, echidnas and wallabies. Cradle Mountain also has many scenic trails and unparalleled views of the Dove River Valley, Lake St. Clair, and the rugged peak of Cradle Mountain. The 6-hour Overland Track between Cradle Mountain and Lake St. Clair is the most famous hiking route in Tasmania, but there are more than 100 other routes and trails to choose from. After a day of exploring, you can enjoy an excellent meal a the popular Waldheim Alpine Hotel or one of the many cozy lodges in the area.
