The Coronado Bridge, spanning the San Diego Bay in San Diego, United States, is an iconic feat of engineering. It links the city of San Diego with the peninsula of Coronado, and rises 200 feet (61 m) above the water below. Constructed in 1969, the bridge reaches a total length of 2.1 miles (3.4 km) in the form of two 1,880 feet (573 m) spans. The bridge has 30 ft (9 m) wide lanes with a 5 ft (1.5 m) wide sidewalk on each side, offering pedestrians a scenic view. During the nighttime, the bridge is illuminated with 128 programmable floodlights, creating a stunning effect. The bridge also has two towers and a main span with a 760 ft (232 m) center section that allow ships to pass underneath.
