This charming, 16th-century convent is located in the peaceful city of Trinidad, Cuba. San Francisco de Asís was built by the Franciscan Monks in 1580 and is one of the earliest and largest colonial buildings in the city. The architecture of the main building features bright yellow and blue walls, baroque domes and a patio with a large Moorish fountain. Inside, visitors can admire the intricately carved wooden balconies, wooden doors, and a baroque-style church. The convent boasts various exhibitions, a museum, and a souvenir shop. It’s a great place to immerse yourself in the city’s history and take in a beautiful and unique piece of architecture. Entry costs a mere $4, Tuesday-Saturday.
