The Constitutional Court of Italy, or Corte Costituzionale della Repubblica Italiana, is the highest court in Italy for interpretation and application of the Italian Constitution. It is located in the city of Rome, in the Palazzo della Consulta, which is one of the most important Baroque buildings in the city. It has nine judges elected for nine-year terms that cannot be renewed, and it is responsible for judging the compatibility of laws with the Constitution. Its decisions are binding to all public and private authorities in Italy. Visiting the Court is free, however visitors must get a pass from the office of the President or from the office of the Minister of Justice located outside the Court. Inside the Court there is the Court Room, and an exhibition area which showcases the history of the Constitution and the Court. Visitors must follow a dress code and visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
