The Congress Bridge Bats in Austin, Texas, USA, offer an incredible sight for any traveler and photographer. Every evening from mid-March through early November, hundreds of thousands of Mexican Free-tailed Bats emerge from the crevices of the Congress Avenue Bridge, swirling in the evening sky for an hour or more in a spectacular evening flight. This natural wonder has earned Austin its claim as the "Bat Capital of America" and provides visitors with one of the most unique, up-close viewing opportunities of a large bat population in the entire world. Bring a tripod and camera to capture the mayhem – and don’t forget a comfy spot to watch the show!
