The Concattedrale di San Pietro Apostolo is Feltre’s cathedral, standing in Piazza Duomo at the foot of the walled upper town. It shares the role of diocesan cathedral with the cathedral in Belluno. Much of the present church reflects reconstruction after the devastating fire of 1510, which destroyed large parts of Feltre. Its unfinished façade exposes the texture of the masonry, while the adjoining bell tower provides a vertical counterpoint to the broad church front. Beneath Piazza Duomo, archaeological remains reveal traces of Roman Feltria and later religious buildings, giving this cathedral precinct a history that reaches well beyond the structure visible today.
