The Colosseum, a former Roman amphitheater located in the heart of the city, is one of Rome's most iconic sights. The Colosseum is a sprawling complex consisting of three levels and a few hundred arches. Inside, visitors can explore two levels of the Colosseum for a better understanding of how the stadium hosted up to 70,000 people during Roman times. Guests may climb to the upper level and catch wonderful views of the impressive brick exterior. The iconic oval building is made of brick-faced concrete that was completed by the end of the 1st century AD. Its 48 meter high facade consists of three stories of arches with Corinthian columns. Visitors can feel the sense of awe and splendour the Romans must have had when they attended gladiator fights and shows at the Colosseum.
