📍 From Broadway, United States
The Colored Stairway in Kingsbridge, United States, is a popular spot of photographic interest and a must-see attraction in New York City. The staircase is made up of a 254-step staircase of hand-painted murals, created in the late 1970s by a partnership of the Kingsbridge Heights Community Center, Bronx Council on the Arts, and local artists. The colors of the murals are based on the colors of the Panamanian flag and feature representations of local birds, trees, and landscapes. Visitors can climb the staircase for a unique view of the grounds, with a unique view of the surrounding Bronx River Park, Kingsbridge Park, and New York skyline. The staircase is located within close distance to the Kingsbridge Armory, which houses a large public ice rink and bowling alley.
The staircase is open for visitors for the entire year and is accessible via public transportation. Explorers can take the Metro North or 2/5 subway lines to East Kingsbridge Road and then walk along West Kingsbridge Road to reach the staircase.
