📍 From Front, Germany
Cologne Cathedral, in Köln, Germany, is one of the world's largest and most impressive Gothic churches. Situated right on the banks of the Rhine, the towering spires of the Cathedral have become an iconic symbol of the city. Construction of the building started in 1248, and wasn't completed until 1880. Visitors can take a tour of the interior, which holds important religious objects and works of art, including stained glass windows, an altarpiece, and a gilded and carved high altar. The outside of the building has survived numerous wars and disasters, and is a testament to its longevity. Enjoy the views from the terrace at the top of the south tower, and explore the grounds which hold several smaller chapels and monuments. Visitors can take a stroll to the nearby Great St. Martin Church and over the Rhine to the Old Town.
