Collonges-la-Rouge is a commune in France's Corrèze department situated in the Limousin region. The commune is renowned for its red sandstone buildings, which provide it with its name. It has been affectionately nicknamed the 'red city'! The village is described as one of the 'Plus Beaux Villages de France', with numerous 18th and 19th-century buildings. The René de Gourmont Museum is located in the castle, where visitors can learn about the life, work and library of the author. The village also holds an annual artist's studio, open all week, where visitors can watch and purchase artwork. The Bastide of Collonges-la-Rouge, a square of medieval houses, can be found in the village, along with a beautiful Gothic church. Visitors can explore the village and countryside on hiking trails that pass through the commune. Many cafes and restaurants serve up traditional delicious French cuisine.
