Collegiata di Santa Juliana is the jewel of Santillana del Mar in Cantabria, Spain. The beautiful Romanesque church is one of the best preserved monuments in the region, with its original foundation stones from the 10th century still visible. The church is dedicated to Santa Juliana and is one of Cantabria’s most famous stones, with a unique style and many stories to tell. It boasts of a unique design, as it is only 8 meters (26 feet) wide and 15 meters (50 feet) long, and the combination of the Moorish and Gothic styles make it a singular place. Inside you will find tombs, Baroque altarpieces and a crypt that houses the remains of Saint Juliana. Outside a small square, which the townsfolk have maintained in perfect condition, will invite you to take in the breathtaking views. A must-see if you’re in Santillana del Mar!
