Civita di Bagnoregio is an ancient and isolated hilltop town located in Bagnoregio, Italy. This historic settlement is perched on a clifftop overlooking the Tiber River valley and is connected to the outside world by a single footbridge. Named ‘The Dying City’ because of its gradual erosion, this picturesque location has been home to Etruscan and Roman settlements, and more recently was the site of a long siege during the Renaissance. Now abandoned, the Medieval remains of Civita di Bagnoregio have been converted into an idyllic nature reserve, with wild plants and animals thriving amongst the ruins. Visitors can take in the amazing views of the valley, explore the old cobbled streets, and find plenty of ancient ruins to photograph. Civita di Bagnoregio is the perfect place to capture a unique photo and get a glimpse of an abandoned medieval village.
