City Hall in Philadelphia, United States is one of the most iconic sights in the city. It is the largest municipal building in the United States and stands at the head of Philadelphia's Center City. This 555-foot high building was designed by the architect John McArthur, Jr. in 1871 and was completed in 1901. It is the starting point for many tourists visiting Philadelphia, as it is the centerpiece of the its downtown area. The tower of City Hall houses the remains of William Penn, founder of the city. It is surrounded by several beautiful parks, gardens and a variety of sculptures. Visitors can also traverse the observation deck at the top of City Hall, providing gorgeous views of Philadelphia. Numerous guided and walking tours are available to explore City Hall and its surrounding areas.
