The City Hall of Philadelphia was designed by architect John McArthur Jr and completed in 1901. Situated in the center of Philadelphia, it is the largest municipal building in the United States. At 548 ft tall and almost 900,000 sq ft in size, its iconic red sandstone exterior is an impressive sight. The Statue of William Penn, the city’s founder, sits atop the building and is the highest point in Philadelphia. The building has a number of historical and cultural attractions, including the grand foyer, which is adorned with sculptures of local notables, and the ornate Mayor's reception room. The building also features an observation deck on the 27th floor, offering stunning views of Philadelphia. City Hall is open for visitors to explore, and is also part of the newly created Mural Arts Walking Tour.
