Cima della Mandria is a broad, grassy summit on the southern side of the Monte Grappa massif in Veneto, overlooking the foothills and the Venetian plain. Its open ridge contrasts with the steeper limestone slopes nearby, creating wide compositions of pasture, mountain tracks and layered horizons. The wider massif was a strategic First World War front, and its military routes and altered terrain remain part of the landscape’s character. Changing cloud and haze often determine the view: clear conditions reveal the scale of the plain below, while mist isolates the rounded crest and gives the scene a stark, quiet quality.
