The Church of St. Nicholas in Izmailovo in Moscow is a renowned architectural landmark of 19th century Russia. Built in 1820, it is one of the grandest churches in the city. Its brick domes and onion-shaped towers create an impressive silhouette against the skyline. Inspired by Russian-Byzantine style architecture of Moscow, the church is famed for its artistic ornate interior filled with frescoes, paintings and carved wood. The door of the church is decorated with an ornate iconostasis, while the temple holds a bronze altar. Around the church grounds stands a tall bell tower, built in 1854, and a refectory. Its gothic arches and colorful tiles make it an ideal photo spot. It is well worth a visit and can be accessed easily via public transport.
