📍 From Old Town Square, Czechia
The historic Church of Our Lady before Týn is one of the best-known monuments in Prague and a major tourist destination in Staré Město, Czechia. Its two spires soaring over Staroměstské námestí (Old Town Square) have been part of the city's skyline for hundreds of years. The 15th-century Gothic church is a prominent example of Gothic architecture in Central Europe and is the dominant feature of the square. Despite its delicate beauty, it has a dramatic history and suffered serious damage during the Hussite wars of the early 15th century. The interior of the church contains some amazing frescos, religious sculptures and baroque furnishings. The tombs of noble families from Bohemia, such as the Rozmberks and the Lobkowiczes, can be found inside. Don't forget to take a look at the north tower, known as the Black Tower, which houses the church's astronomical clock, featuring a moving procession of the 12 Apostles. The church is open to the public and visitors can attend a regular service or simply marvel at its breathtaking beauty.
