Chinese Fishing Nets
📍 From Fort Kochi, India
In Kochi, India, there is a unique sight to behold – the Chinese Fishing Nets and the Fort Kochi. It's located on the shoreline of the Kerala backwaters and is a popular tourist destination. The Chinese Fishing Nets are called 'cheena vala' in the local language, and they stretch out into the sea and operate with amazing precision. These nets were introduced to Kochi by traders from the Court of Kublai Khan, and they are still used by local fishermen to this day.

Just beside these Fishing Nets is the traditional and beautiful Fort Kochi, with its grand old Portuguese-style buildings serving as a reminder of the city’s colonial past. Within the Fort, you can find numerous churches, temples, and monuments connected to the colourful history of the city, as well as a variety of art galleries, museums and deliciously unique street food. Walk along the shoreline promenade, enjoy a cup of tea with the locals, and listen to the fascinating stories from the area's long, rich heritage. Kochi is an excellent destination for travelers, offering an array of sights, sounds, and tastes.
