📍 United States
The Chimney Rock National Historic Site in Bayard, United States, is an iconic landmark standing 300 feet tall. This incredible rock formation was created millions of years ago by the shifting land of the great plains. This massive monument has served as a major landmark for explorers, cowboys, travelers, and Native Americans for thousands of years. The base of the Chimney Rock is located at the Robidoux Pass, a gate between the Great Plains and Rocky Mountains. Visitors to the site can explore the petroglyphs, a collection of Native American writings which were estimated to have been made by the Oglala Lakota between 1775 and 1850. Take a narrated shuttle ride to the top of the rock for a breathtaking view of the surrounding country side. There are also many wonderful hiking trails in the area, perfect for those that want to explore and appreciate nature. Don't forget to bring your camera and capture the beauty of the rock formation!
