The Chiesa Parrocchiale di Santa Maria Assunta, known in German as the Stadtpfarrkirche Mariä Himmelfahrt, stands near Brunico’s historic center in bilingual South Tyrol. Its present 19th-century, Romanesque Revival appearance reflects a much older parish history. The pale façade, round-arched portals and balanced twin towers create a strong sense of symmetry, while the steep roofs and surrounding Alpine slopes place the church unmistakably within the Puster Valley landscape. Inside, frescoed surfaces and a richly articulated sanctuary contrast with the restrained exterior.
