Chiesa Ortodossa Macedone is a beautiful ochre-colored church located in the small village of Borgonovo, Italy. Built in the 19th century and dedicated to St. John the Baptist, it is one of the few churches in Italy to house a richly decorated interior with frescoes, murals, and richly colored marble. Inside the church, visitors can find some impressive carved wooden sculptures and a bright blue iconostasis, decorated with 3 layers of icons. As soon as you look up you will spot the golden-painted ceiling and dome of the chapel, and a unique bell tower. A few steps outside the church walls, you will find a peaceful garden with several ancient tombstones- a reminder of the long history of this sacred place. Visitors can explore the entire area, marvel at some old frescoes or even grab a bite at the charming eateries nearby. Chiesa Ortodossa Macedone is indeed a gem that should not be missed!
