Chiesa Madre degli Angeli is the principal parish church of Torre dell'Orso, the small coastal village in the Melendugno area of Salento, Puglia. As the town’s mother church it anchors the local community both geographically and culturally, sitting near the village nucleus where streets funnel down toward the sea. Visually it often reads as a clean, white architectural foil to the intense blue of the Adriatic and the pale stone and scrubland of the Salento coast; photographers use nearby vantage points and the adjacent square to compose the church against sky or to include elements of coastal town life. It is an active sacred site, so quiet, respectful behavior is appropriate when entering.
