Chiesa di Santa Teresa is a small Baroque church in Lecce, set among the city’s dense historic center and carved from the same honey-hued pietra leccese that defines local architecture. Its façade exemplifies Lecce Baroque: a compact, highly sculpted composition of volutes, columns and figural reliefs that reads like a theater set in stone. Close-up views reveal deep bas‑relief saints, putti and floral ornament whose rounded modelling throws dramatic shadows as the sun moves; from a short distance the façade’s vertical rhythm and carved frames create a layered symmetry against narrow streets. The warm limestone takes on an amber glow in low light, making late-afternoon or early-morning side light especially rewarding for texture and relief. It is a functioning church, so quiet, respectful behavior is appropriate when framing interior or devotional details.
