The Church of Santa Caterina “Am Rain,” also known as the Rainkirche, stands on raised ground at the upper edge of Brunico’s historic center, close to Brunico Castle. Medieval in origin and later reshaped in Baroque style after a town fire, the compact church forms a distinctive transition between the old streets and the wooded castle hill. Its pale walls and slender bell tower create a recognizable accent above Brunico’s rooftops, especially when viewed from the town center, where the church, castle, and surrounding slopes layer the scene with both urban and Alpine character.
