Across from Santa Lucia train station, Chiesa di San Simeon Piccolo stands out with its green dome and Neoclassical facade on the Grand Canal. Built in the 18th century, it has a serene interior with ornate altars and paintings by local masters. Often overlooked for grander Venetian churches, it provides a quieter escape from crowds. Its cylindrical dome, crowned by a statue of the Redeemer, recalls ancient Roman temples. Visitors can sometimes access the crypt’s corridor labyrinth. The church steps offer a peaceful spot to watch gondolas and vaporettos glide by.
