Chiesa di San Pietro is an iconic Catholic church located in the picturesque fishing village of Portovenere, Italy. The church was built in 1198 and has been rebuilt many times over the centuries. The view of the church with the ocean vista behind it is breathtaking. Inside is a crypt built in 1838 and an altar dedicated to St. Peter. From the top of the bell tower, visitors can get a spectacular view of the sea and the islands in the distance. The church is very photogenic and the views it offers of Portovenere are difficult to match. Visitors should also explore the ancient castle ruins nearby.
