The 18th century Chiesa di San Michele in Foro was built on top of the remains of an old forum of Roman times in the heart of Lucca, Italy. Visitors can admire the church's Baroque façade and the exquisitely painted interior. The interior of the church is decorated with elegant frescoes, depicting stories of the Old and New Testaments. Its main attraction is its main altar, featuring a high altar crafted in marble and wood featuring the statues of St. John the Baptist and St. Girolamo. Adjacent to the church is a wooden choir loft from the 18th century, an impressive altarpiece from the 12thcentury, and a 19th-century organ. Many of the tombs containing the remains of Mauro Codussi lie within this church. A must see for any visitor to Lucca.
